About Sela Builders
Many people have asked what the word “Sela” means. There are several definitions; however, the context in which we use it means “the rock." It refers to a city made out of rock and also refers to a firm foundation. The word “Sela” sums up our building philosophy of constructing homes with Sustainable Designs and Timeless Architecture. Our passion is to build high-quality homes that help to preserve our natural resources, and lower our clients' energy bills while providing a beautifully crafted and comfortable home for generations to come.
Sela Builders' homes are built to fit a broad spectrum of aesthetic tastes that retain their curb appeal while being more energy-efficient, healthier and environmentally friendly.
Our core values do not stop at building great homes, but building great relationships with our clients, investors, team, and the communities we serve. The foundation of our core values is to operate our company with integrity and accountability with a servant leadership philosophy.
Our Team
Michael Moyer, Owner and Managing Partner
Mike started Sela Builders with a passion and long-time dream to build high-quality, energy-efficient homes. His love of the outdoors and our environment motivates him to continually improve building standards that are consistent with green building.
Prior to founding Sela Builders, Mike attended Concordia University Texas and worked for Plantation Homes in Austin as well as held various management, sales and operations roles in the high-tech industry, including Dell Inc. for 12 years.
Mike and his family currently live in their hometown of Austin where they enjoy mountain biking, camping, hiking and kayaking on Lake Austin.
Wende Moyer, VP of Everything Else
When Mike founded the company, Wende left the corporate legal world to work alongside him in the pursuit to build the best home possible. Wende enjoys marketing Sela Builders and purchasing and selecting products for new homes.
Prior to home building, Wende attended The University of Texas at Austin and worked as a paralegal for Dell Inc. for 10 years with the segment marketing and advertising departments.
Wende enjoys her family and friends and loves attending UT Longhorn Football games every year. She recently completed her first Sprint Triathlon.
Michael Moyer, Sela Builders, is an active member of the Big Country Home Builders Association (2nd Vice President - 2011, Board of Directors - 2010), Texas Association of Builders, National Association of Home Builders, and the Better Business Bureau with an A rating. He has also enjoyed membership with the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and the Abilene Board of Realtors.
